There are literally hundreds of steps you can take to prevent a tax audit or minimize the effects of an ongoing audit.  This page and the links off of this page are dedicated to providing you with the information to help you to avoid tax audits altogether.   However, none of these steps will guarantee that you will not be audited!  If a tax professional informs you that he will guarantee that you will not be audited,  RUN !!!   More than likely, you are not dealing with a professional at all.
